Nancy K. Sundberg passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2016, after an extended illness.

"She was a Mom to many and a stranger to no one." She was born and raised in Yakima. She spent her childhood years attending Barge Lincoln Elementary, Washington Jr. High, and graduated from Yakima High in 1953. Mom worked from the time she was able, doing odd jobs as a young girl, and eventually took up working in the food service industry where she continued until her retirement at the age of 79. She worked all over Yakima. To name a few places: Chinook, Oyster House, Holiday Inn, Thunderbird, Club Café, Big Harry's, The Abby, Yakima Meadows, Angels, and the Bamboo Terrace.

In 1986, she chased her dream of owning her own business and bought a tavern in Wiley City. She eventually turned that tavern into a restaurant and lounge called Nancy's Kitchen. She had a great customer base where she made lifelong friends and family serving homemade, comfort food, and cocktails until 2001. After a short lived retirement, she went to work for Rosauers in the deli, and worked until she just couldn't do it anymore.

Mom's work ethic was a strong character strength that she passed down to her children and grandchildren. She was tough and strong, but would give the shirt off her back. Her kindness to others was always shown in a gift or help in anyway she could.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Al Sundberg, and her son, Peter Sundberg. She is survived by her children, Randy (Gayle) Sundberg, Mark (Kelly) Sundberg, Patrick (Denise) Sundberg, Diana/Sissy (Dave) Roberts, and numerous grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 1 p.m. at the Yakima Foursquare Church.
